Talent vs. skill
Do you know someone who can confidently give a compelling presentation with little prep?
Hey, it’s Anwell, and this is Soft Power Leaders, by Brantio. We help brilliant women in Biotech and Pharma gain influence.
A friend of mine is a talented public speaker. He can walk into a room, flash a dazzling smile, and launch into a speech that’s full of humor, fun stories, and eye-opening insights. It looks natural and easy for him.
Except it isn’t. He’s spent thousands of hours learning how to speak well in public, how to invite the audience to go on a journey that changes the way they think.
Even more challenging, he put himself out there in a personal way. He told thousands of jokes that bombed to find the ones that worked. He accepted the criticisms that come with sharing his unique take and personality. He took the leap instead of playing it safe.
Next time you see someone doing something extraordinary, instead of thinking, “they’re so talented,” think of how persistent and hard-working they are.
Now that you know it’s not just about talent, what skills would you like to have?
Soft Power Leaders are always trying to level up.
Thanks for listening! Now go make it happen.
